Bufflehead Two-Step

Bufflehead-taking-off-D3S2413

A Bufflehead takes a couple of steps to take off from a pond. This is the smallest diving duck in North America and only a winter visitor here on the Delmarva Peninsula. They will be heading to their breeding grounds in Canada soon.

The Bufflehead duck has a resident population on the bay and can be seen all summer long on Monie Bay and both of the Annemessex Rivers. Just wanted to let you know.

    Hi Matthew,

Good to know. Most of them head north for the summer breeding. It would be fun to find them this summer.

    Thanks, Kevin
