a royal treat!
Last night was my fourth trip to the Royal Tern colony and this time I concentrated on catching the parents passing a fish to their chicks. Turns out that was a difficult assignment. At eight frames per second with my camera I was only able to catch the moment a couple of times. The pass is amazingly fast. So fast it is hard to even see it happen with just your eye. And with the intense competition for food chicks are very quick to gobble-up the fish.

Nice shot Kevin! You wouldn’t think it would be so hard to catch this shot with all the kids being fed but it definitely wasn’t easy! I just wish we could have found a kid off by himself so there were no other birds in the background. Your shot is cleaner than mine though. Must be that superior camera gear.

Thanks Kim! I’m very lucky to get even one of the feeding photographs.
I’m sure your Canon camera and big lens would make a great anchor for the boat!!!
